Le Couronnement - The Crowning

À travers cette image, j’ai voulu explorer la frontière entre le minéral et l’organique. Ce gros plan en noir et blanc est pour moi une tentative de capturer l’âme silencieuse de la roche, cette matière brute qui, sous un certain angle, semble s’éveiller à la vie.

En jouant sur les contrastes saisissants et les strates accidentées de la pierre, j’ai cherché à faire émerger une silhouette : celle d’un profil humain, un gardien immuable scrutant un horizon invisible. J’ai utilisé la lumière pour sculpter ces formes, créant un dialogue entre les ombres profondes et la précision de la texture granitique. Par ce cadrage en contre-plongée, mon intention est d’accentuer la monumentalité de cette figure, l’isolant face à un ciel dramatique pour interroger notre propre perception de la nature et notre tendance à projeter de l’humain sur le monde sauvage.

Through this image, I wanted to explore the boundary between the mineral and the organic. This black and white close-up is, for me, an attempt to capture the silent soul of the rock—this raw material that, from a certain angle, seems to awaken to life.

By playing with striking contrasts and the rugged layers of the stone, I sought to bring forth a silhouette: that of a human profile, an unchanging guardian watching over an unseen horizon. I used light to sculpt these forms, creating a dialogue between deep shadows and the precision of the granitic texture. Through this low-angle shot, my intention is to emphasize the monumentality of this figure, isolating it against a dramatic sky to question our own perception of nature and our tendency to project human traits onto the wild world.
